For the record Before this happened I didn’t have major issues with 3rd Wave Feminists as I barely knew about them and Game Journalists as I figured most were decent and did their job. I had grown up in the 2000’s, when Thompson was still relevant. So games getting attacked were nothing new to me though I took pleasure in the 2010 study stating we were indeed, not monsters. When Sarkesian came out with her series I paid it little heed. We took Thompson we can take her I figured. Then came came the whole Zoe Quinn debacle occurred. Originally I had sympathy for the woman back when Depression Quest was still in greenlight though didn’t vote for it myself. Then it turned out she cheated to get her way. I primarily use YouTube so since most people I watch were lambasting her I figured the media was doing the responsible thing and fired Grayson, apologized and such. However then I noticed a weird hashtag in the comments called #GamerGate . I just went on for the most part though kept an eye out to find out what all the stuff was about. Then somehow I stumbled across an info graphic that made all the garbeled stuff from the comments. The Journalists were being total assholes! They were declaring us dead, protecting dev. buds who were being hypocrites and misleading probably lots of newbies to the medium but also quite possibly driving them away due recommending a bad game and don’t give a damn. When called out on their bullshit they just shut down all conversation and call us misogynist, homophobic, racist and every other insult in the book. So dug more into this and got even more pissed off at what the anti-GGers were doing and warmed when I saw that our ability to unify under fire had not died in the years since Thompson. And to those who say this is about harassment of women let me say this: A) If they are legit they are welcomed with open arms, more open than the guys in fact. B) Nature of the beasts regarding you two. Journalists get hurt through their advertisers. Show the advertiser who the guys they’ve been sponsoring and ask for them to pull their support via email. Notice I emphasized email, which as many know is private. Between sender and receiver. Now on the other hand 3rd wave Feminists use popular support. Show the world they are totally and utterly wrong through debating, or at least trying, to debate them. Thus the more public side of the struggle. Finally C) To the 3rd Wavers who genuinely belive you are in the right, your being used as a bloody shield by your leaders and The Game Journos. Surely you stand against bullying and corruption as well? And now a core reason I support this and why I’m a gamer: It was my sanctuary as a kid. My parents fought a lot and ended up getting divorced plus later add in bullying and life wasn’t grand as a kid for me. But Tycoon games and Sim City 4 plus Sims 2 came in and I could have peace, control and could create. It is sort of why I want to develop Games when I grow up, To inspire people, entertain them, make a world and for those like me offer them a place to distract from the darkness of their lives, if only for a spell. And jounos would instead push crappy games and 3rd wavers co-opt. this into their war as ammo. Well we have had enough. Society has rejected a vast majority of us and this became our last bastion. We will stand our ground. We will fight for what we believe is right. We are #Gamergate #NotYourShield
