Is it customary for Zentraedi to bring a knife on a first date? Or try to kill the guy they are courting? Or is it natural for that guy to managed to get her knife away from her and precede to ask her to marry him? Well I guess Zentraedi X Human relationships are special
The episode wedding bells of Robotech Macross saga had a lot of less than satisfatory animation. I mean the animation was fine, but the character's faces didn't look right >_< Granted this was done in the 80's and it's still great, but well, I felt inspired to draw my own recreation of Max and Miriya's fight. Miriya Parina the Zentraedi's greatest pilot feels she must kill Maximilliam Sterling, the RDF's greatest pilot, because he has bested her in battle more than once. As I mentioned, Max get's the knife away from her and asks her to marry him. She says yes ^^ What a strange relationship and yet they end up happily married with kids later on. A very important episode that received poor treatment both in plot and animation. The animation looked awful and Milia/Miriya looked insane.
The date the marriage; everything happened too quick and glossed over. A human marrying an alien deserved as much care and attention, if not more, than Rick/Hikaru's wonky love-life.
The most we got was Miriya almost setting the place on fire with cooking oil in her attempt to brew a pot of coffee (which was priceless). Needed some more char development like that.

Kinda ironic, marrying the women that nearly killed you twice and tried to knife you on the first date. It was kinda audacious of Max to prospose to her after disarming her but he's nothing if not to the POINT. Get it? Anyhow, this is pretty good. I like the work you did on Max's outfit and face. Miriya looks good too, the colors on her and her cool, predatory gaze fit the moment quite well. But, if she's lunging at him like that, wouldn't her hair be billowing BEHIND her? Also, the way Max's back is arched backward slightly hints that he was craning out of reach of one of her attacks so, perhaps, it would make more sense to draw her knife arm angled towards the viewer about level with Max's neck. This would make it look like she took a slash at him but Max jerked out of the way and the follow-through carried her arm onward. Does that make sense? Well, in any case, thanks for telling me about this and catch you later.
