Rostrum "Defiance" Acutum is a veteran sergeant in the 10th Company of the XIXth Legion. Born on Deliverance to descendants of the famous uprising ten millennia ago, he was never as big as his friends and so relied on speed and cunning to survive. These traits help him pass his tests as an Aspirant and join the Legion. He excelled as a scout sniper and chose to stay with the Scouts once promoted to the rank of Sergeant. For the next two centuries he passed on his skills and taught the Initates to survive and help replenish the ranks of the depleted Legion. He served with distinction in battlefields across the galaxy, despite being injured severely on several extended missions behind enemy lines. On one such mission he was searching for a forgotten Mor Deythan training base in the hopes of recovering more information on their tubing and tactics. Unfortunately he lost an eye in battle against a Tau sniper with similar ideas, choosing to replace it with a cybernetic augmentation so as to not lose combat effectiveness. Sergeant Defiance was last seen 5 years ago after being deployed with a squad of Scouts to a hive world where there were rumours of an impending rebellion. The squad were tasked with investigating and ensuring there was no disruption to Imperial tithes. The rebellion was more advanced than the Imperium realised and the landing craft was shot down on arrival. The bodies of the for scouts were displayed as trophies by the rebels but the Sergeant disappeared after sending a single report regarding the "Four-Armed Emperor" leading the revolt. A Raven Guard fleet is still en-route to the planet but Sergeant Defiance is currently Missing In Action. There is still hope that he is still in action behind enemy lines, disrupting rebel plans.
