Description

The SIMIC-Type 32, also known by the domestic nickname 'Touaa / 塗鴉' "Graffiti", is a compact high-capacity personal defence weapon designed and manufactured by the Hong Kong-based Pearl River Delta Arms Company (PRAC). The nickname is theorized to be derived both from the cultural significance graffiti has in Hong Kongese culture and society, while simultaneously also being related to the weapon’s ability to “paint” a target area thanks to its very high rate of fire.

The original Type 32 was introduced in 2163 and would subsequently be followed by the bigger, more flexible Type 36 in 2178, which would retroactively designate the Type 32 as the carbine variant of PRAC's SIMIC-line of personal weapons. The original introduction of the Type 32 saw a fair bit of interest not only from domestic Hong Kongese organizations but also from the international market, as the design ought to technically deliver a compact, affordable, low-maintenance, high-capacity bullet hose, which would be a competitive offering in the arms market for security and similar.

Unfortunately, these early production models would rarely suffer from electrical failure that would render the guns inoperable until fixed. Users also voiced other complaints such as surprisingly short battery life and a rate of fire so incessantly high that it felt like a detriment to both ammo conservation and recoil management. Overall, leaving the Type 32 with a mediocre reputation. An upgraded, modified version of the weapon was released in late 2165 which replaced the electronics system with one that was more robust while including the ability to select between two different rates of fire, 800 or 1400 RPM, as opposed to the original's 1800 RPM. It was also far more efficient power consumption-wise, and would now realistically only require battery swaps after prolonged periods of active use (several weeks). These improvements caused the reliability and reputation of the weapon to steadily improve, and the Type 32 would again see an upgrade later in 2178 along with the introduction of the larger Type 36.

On the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the Sovereign Republic of Hong Kong (SRoHK), during the second quarter of 2197, a special production run of the Type 32 and Type 36 are expected to be introduced.

The Type 32 is a compact, fully-automatic personal defence weapon utilizing SIMIC technology (Superimposed Intermediate Munition - Caseless), being electrically fired 5.4mm caseless ammunition. The ammunition comes pre-loaded in Type 32 ammunition cassettes and generally comes in four variants; variant "A" premium high-velocity armour-piercing, variant "B" basic armour-piercing, variant "C" training FMJ, and lastly variant "X" SVSAL-compliant reduced-penetration hollow points. Spent cassettes can be returned to a PRAC-certified dealership for a guaranteed discount on new ammunition cassette purchases.

The exhibit shown above is a modern 2190 model of the Type 32. The weapon features a pistol grip (housing the K5 battery) and integrated foregrip and comes with a simple two-position stock, integral red dot sight, two protective bars on either side of the weapon's front, several options for sling attachment, a manual safety, and SARS rails on the left and right sides of the gun's main receiver hub.
