Description
Since the original released image felt off, I applied a few touches that followed the rule of thirds and Pop to her outfit in an attempt to see if her outfit was unbalanced, and lacking central points that drew the eye. All without adding anything that did not already exist in the She-Ra universe, old and new.Got to say, giving her back her original sword removed all the problems it had with it blending into her outfit and becoming lost in the image.

Yes I do like your 'fits' a lot.
1 helment (100% better)
2 shoulders( 20% cooler ;} )
3 Bust (yes)
4 chest crest(that works)
5 back line?(N/A)
6 her real sword of-course.
Did I miss one?

.............. I am still hoping the story be good :}

Hi, thank you taking to time to respond. I too am hoping the new show will be good. He-Man may have been aimed towards young boys, but the crossovers and Christmas Special cemented both time slots on TV into my viewing schedule.
Regarding the changes made, you've identified the main ones. The minor additions to mention are;
- Rounding off the line art of her neck and shoulders so they are less angular.
- Changed her hair style atop her head to support the notion of long flowing hair... (Initially removed the line denoting the back of the head, and made the hair flow extend out from her temples, but her bee stung ear was a problem that the face guard of her original crown covered up, removing the problem). And added a few more lines to denote where her hair was falling out to the sides and behind her back.
-Added more eyelid, eyelash, eyebrow and a slight lip colour differentiation. Her original pic made her look hopped up on caffeine. Wanted to denote a more, relaxed but ready idea in her stance. Also her eyeliner is the same colour as She-Ra's original eyeline colour. And of course, Pupils.
- Added a little extra muscle to her triceps as her arm position supports the accentuation of that muscle group.
- Lowered the belt line a little, so the belt works in relation her her body type... In addition, the top was redrawn as none of the art suggests it's a metal breast plate. Another route that could have taken was to recolour the top and add cape clasps, but I wanted to go with what I was seeing, and the skirt and shorts implies the top is fabric, not metal, and thus, formfitting like her shorts.
- Added an extra gem on her gauntlet to add something to embellish what was otherwise an uninteresting item of armour. Tempted to redraw it so it shared aspects of her crown, but the new She-Ra appears to be meant to be easy and quick to draw, so just copied the blue gem on her crest and socketed it into her gauntlet. Maybe, in this version's She-Ra, it becomes a light shield or communicator.
- Added some shine to her crest gem, and others
- Finally, the gem in her sword is recoloured as her original gem was a much darker blue.
I do like her old sword with her new look. The sword stands out better. As the item that grants her power it should be considered more of a character than a tool as in the original cartoon a chunk of the screen time was given over to the sword enabling He-Man and She-Ra to do amazing things. And when they were without it, they often ran into trouble till they got it back... I'm not sold on the new sword as it blends into the new costume to much, to be distinct in it's own capacity as an item of power. Though if the background of the image is an indication, it seems more set to be the door to power that is intended to be lost in She-Ra's art style as she takes on the colour and design aspects of the sword... (That being said, I like how they tried to add She-Ra's original crown to the hilt design)
I wanted to do more, but I gave myself an hour to apply changes. I focused on the question, if I had a 3x3 camera grid, what would I change to create a more visually interesting image? The version you see is the result as her costume's points of interest now sit along lines camera operators compose shots on. If this was a full image Long Shot of She-Ra, I imagine her outfit would be rebalanced again, but as she is seen in this Medium Long Shot, her original costume felt to bundled up at the top and needed to be lowered so She-Ra's costume points of interest were not top heavy

Bravo.Goes to show that with a little bit of work this design could be salvaged from it's current mess.Sadly I doubt that the show will take cues from this.
