Ah, the old cartoon staple of the grabby octopus at the bottom of the sea. Usually, these things are mean and dangerous. One tentacle gets a grip means you're in mortal peril. Two tentacles get a grip: you're in deep trouble. Three tentacles: you'd better start praying, 'cuz yer a goner.
Only ... can Bugs Bunny really drown? In the 1944 cartoon Hare Ribbin' by Robert McKimson, Bugs Bunny dives into a lake to elude a Russian wolfhound. When the dog follows the rabbit into the water, Bugs dons a mermaid disguise and toys with the poor dolt. In this cartoon Bugs Bunny is submerged for about five minutes, being rather active, with no sign of oxygen deprivation. Perhaps toons don't need to breathe air, just as they don't seem to need to excrete.
However, the way you've composed this piece, with the octopus agog at meeting the celebrated Bugs Bunny, fits right in with the humor of the old Termite Terrace gang. My compliments, Da-Wabbit.
