Description I made this stamp months ago, but I forgot about it until now.

One thing that I've noticed about discussions of privilege is that a lot of people seem to assume that if someone is less privileged, then it makes them a better person. In my experience, this isn't always true. I've met people who you'd probably consider less privileged than me who were total assholes (especially at the alternative school I went to), and when I took a pre-college program I met a rich young man who was actually pretty nice. I personally think that privilege itself isn't always a bad thing. It's people's attitude towards privilege that speaks volumes. It's okay to be disgusted by a rich white person's privilege if they abuse it and hurt others and get off easy for it, but if they're a genuinely nice person who doesn't abuse their privilege, then you shouldn't feel animosity towards them. On the same note, being from one or more marginalized groups doesn't automatically make you a better person. For example, I've met my fair share of autistic people who were jerks, people who used their disability as an excuse to be mean to others. There's nothing wrong with belonging to multiple marginalized groups, but it doesn't make you any better or worse than someone who's considered privileged. I think that we should try not to judge people by their privilege - it's the attitude towards privilege (or lack thereof) that matters.

I'm going to be disabling comments since I think people might interpret this the wrong way.
