Well this isn't going to plan
why are backgrounds so hard.I'm just going to keep working on this until it looks right, lot of dark marks to get past, It's no where near finished so no remarks about blank bits

The elephant looks incredible.It doesn't need a detailed background,it's powerful on it's own.Keep it simple with muted shadows if you have to put something in,I don't think it's necessary.If the background is too busy you'll detract from your subject and it won't have nearly the impact that it does now.Just my opinion.

Holy smokes! This is amazing! You don't need to get too carried away with background detail in one like this - your subject is so powerful that the background need barely be an afterthought... gorgeous!
