This is actually what a lot of people are theorizing about the movie. there is a rumor going around that Godzilla has come back from the dead and is slowly regenerating like ImhotepΒ from The Mummy.

That depends on what they have planned for the story. for all we know, this new Godzilla could have already been dead for hundreds of millions of years and was revived by theΒ radiation of nuclear weapons. but we're just gonna have to wait until more into and trailers are released to know. but I do like the idea that this new Godzilla is literally rising from the grave because this is supposed to be the scariest Godzilla yet and knowing he can never truly beΒ defeatedΒ adds to the scariness.

I agree about not being defeated because that sort of adds the horror movie and to me this is no accident as the joint creator is the guy who created the evangelion series and that is filled with horrible moments that are worthy of being in a horror movie.

While watching some videos on YouTube, someone in the comment section said that the writers of this new movie are making a brand new start. this movie has 0% connection to the original 1954 movie and it will not be referenced like it was in the 2014 movie. so this new Godzilla's origin could be anything.
