I agree,Β The first time I saw the trailer of Shin Godzilla, I initially believed that Godzilla had survived a direct nuclear bombing and therefore returned to Japan to avenge in a state betweenΒ agony and hatred as well as his screams. Besides that because of his condition, he could no longer feel pain.

The great thing about Godzilla (like Batman) is that he's had so many incarnations that there's really something for everyone's personal tastes. If you don't like scary Godzilla, there's always the heroic or even downright silly versions to enjoy. Thirty-plus movies has given us a lot of options!

My friend got to see an early screening, and he told me some stuff about it. The movie itself is a remake of the original in very different ways than one would expect. All of the themes and ideas are there, but they've been updated to become relevant to the world today. Also,Β when he attacks, the imagery is made to evoke the recent disasters that have battered Japan, such as the earthquake.
Also, he told me thatΒ this Godzilla isn't like the Dark Knight. Shin Godzilla has moments of laughs to go with the great tragedy, andΒ the human characters really do hold you over between Godzilla attacks and are entertaining in their own right.
