I'll admit there's entirely too little Godzilla in "Godzilla", but imho it's worth it when the G-Man holds the MUTO's jaws open and breathes atomic fire down her throat, roasting her alive from the inside.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this comic was made for comedic value. The art style nor dialog show any form of seriousness, so you really shouldn't treat it as if it's serious.

This was from more than a month ago anyways. I know I had a problem with the movie for that reason in particular, but then I was like "Well shit, that's every Godzilla movie!" Sometimes people change their opinions over a period of time and think about it for a while, so I'm sure this is no longer relevant in the artist's mind. If it is, then it's safe to say I'm caught in the middle of loony-ville.
Seriously, if people still think this is a problem, then they're fucking crazy and I want nothing to do with them.

From my experience, debates about Godzilla films are timeless. People are still bitching about Godzilla's Revenge and Godzilla 1998 despite being released decades ago so, yee. No no, you're in loony-ville, no worries.
Nah to be honest I watch Kaiju movies for the monsters. When was the last time you watched a Kaiju movie specifically for the humans? Don't get me wrong they're good for exposition and scale, but not many people watch them specifically for humans. I mean imagine watching Porn for character building. I mean not to compare Kaiju Eiga to pornos but... eh.

Not to be one of those people, but it seems that the only monster movie to balance out interesting characters with scenes of destruction is the original Gojira. Why nobody has been able to do so years after, no goddamn clue.

Personally, the more I see these new Godzilla movies, the more I wish they were a continuation of the animated series Broderick's movie spawned. These movies establish Godzilla as a savior of mankind, the only thing missing is the continuity and characters the series established. Hell, Monarch is essentially H.E.A.T. 2.0!

I just find it strange that you would praise a movie that butchers and shames the Godzilla franchise over a movie that does the opposite. Screen time doesn't mean jack squat if that screen time is only used to show off pretty images. The conflict in the movie was very straight forward and took center stage: Godzilla is hunting the MUTOs. The humans are the main focus but the conflict is still right there.Β

If there's no screen time, why make a movie? Β Conflict makes for good story, but I go to a kaiju movie to see kaiju. Β Not to watch people listening to news reports of kaiju.

Except Godzilla movies have ALWAYS been about the human characters. The Kaiju have always been a back drop. I went into the movie to see a respectful tribute to my favorite Kaiju of all time and I got that.Β
The 1954 Godzilla had the same amount of monster screen time in this film and yet THAT'S regarded as a classic.Β
