Monty Python was one of my favorite shows growing up.Β I really like the "Killer Joke" (Wenn ist das nunstuck git und slottermeyer? Β Ja!Β Beierhund das oder die flipperwaldt gersput!) and "Dead Parrot" (This is an ex-parrot!) sketches, but the "Lumberjack Song" (I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a bra.) is my favorite.

I love the Killer Joke sketch, mostly for the segment about the Nazi interrogation (John Cleese and Terry Gilliam have some of the best reactions ever), and Lumberjack is always going to be the definitive Python bit (well, when it's combined with Dead Parrot).

I love Graham Chapman here! I find him and John Cleese the best-drawn here, but they are all hillarious! Those facial expressions though!

I knew I should have drawn Chapman with the Raymond Luxury-Yacht nose (it's polystyrene!).

Now, dear, don't make a fuss. I'll have your Spam. I love it! I'm having Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Baked Beans, Spam, and Spam!

You're not, matey. I'm having the Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay sauce, served in a Provençale manner with shallots and aubergines, garnished with truffle pÒté, brandy and a fried egg on top and Spam. And it wouldn't be the same without the spam.

nice, the General, the Gumby, the Spam, the Ministry, the Nudge, the Inquisition....man so awesome. i would've thought to do MP as a Lumberjack, and what about Carol?
π: 0 β©: 1
DadaHyena In reply to Zed-with-Fangs [2011-03-22 07:02:31 +0000 UTC]
Depends on whether or not you count Carol as a Python (some folks do); other contenders are Neil Innes and even Douglas Adams (he was the only outsider to contribute writing to the Flying Circus series, even if it was one sketch).
Eric Idle also played the Lumberjack on various stage shows.

Zed-with-Fangs In reply to DadaHyena [2011-03-23 07:17:37 +0000 UTC]
yeah i know. Carol is a Python whether others think of as one or not. and Douglas Adams also wrote bits for Meaning of Life. Neil Innes, come one where would they be without that magical music man? we wouldn't have Knights of the Round Table.

DadaHyena In reply to Zed-with-Fangs [2011-03-23 22:08:11 +0000 UTC]
Douglas Adams wrote "The Meaning of Liff", a book that is often confused with the Python film (I don't think he actually had anything to do with that movie).
Carol and Neil can definitely be called Pythons, as evidenced by their roles in the Hollywood Bowl Python show.

no doug did write some stuff for both the last season on flying circus and the meaning of life, you can check it out if you don't belive me.
i agree, what about John DuPrez? the man who worked with Eric on Spamalot and Not The Messiah?
