Description
Using bases isn't hard, but sadly sometimes effect is just crappy. So I have some advices for base users:

1. Top of the head - Hair doesn't just stick to head, specially if they are curly.
2. This makes me most mad, most people have hair above ears, really.
3. If you changed eye color, change also contours of it, and if hair cover eye or eyebrow it should be hidden under the colors.
4. Using other size if pencil for clothes than in a base or not coloring contours, this doesn't looks good right?
5. Hairs can't be a straight line, or a triangle, let them blow around on the wind, just a bit.
6. Details should have a contours, unless they are too tiny.
7. Gloves, well, they should stick to fingers, they can't be a straight line.
8. Clothes also shouldn't be flat.
9. Details, you need to color them precisely.

I hope it'll help, I know it's hard to begin but please take your time, make your best. It isn't as hard at all.
