Description
Threat Level: 17Elements: Fire
Weakest to Ice and Light
Related to the Chimera, the Manticore appeared when the evolution of the Chimera split and broke off to another direction but still stayed close to the same original line. A Manticore has the head and body of a lion, draconic-like wings, and the tail of a scorpion. These beasts are hyper aggressive and have been known to hunt Chimera and even other weaker or wounded Manticores. The Manticore is a dire threat even veteran and master ranked adventurers fear it, despite how many of these beasts have been successfully hunted through the ages they are still not fully understood.
Powers and abilities:
Fire breath
Flight- Manticores can fly but prefer to be on the ground and they make use of their wings to propel themselves forward more than their leaping distance allows to deliver a stronger, deadlier lunge.
Regeneration
Night Vision
Dread Glare- Its stare can inflict deep fear that can be near crippling, strong wills can resist this.
Thorn Launch- Can prime and launch its sharp thorns and spines that grow out from its mane as a defense, some of these thorns are venomous and others inflict a defense down debilitation.
Dread Cloak- Manticores secrete a large mist around a vast area that makes them invisible so long as they stand within its range. The name of this ability is given so for the frightening dark red color of the mist that absorbs light and the dread of being in it knowing the Manticore is prowling within and can strike at any moment and you will not see it coming. (Breaking its wings once shortens this ability’s duration, fully breaking the wings will cripple this ability)
Trivia:
A Manticore’s venom possessed by its scorpion stinger is the most lethal of toxins, specifically it’s a neural toxin that causes paralysis while slowly but surely stopping your heart if getting stung by such a large stinger in your torso didn’t kill you first.
Manticores prefer humanoids but particularly have a favored taste for humans.
Manticores can mimic humanoid vocals and in a way talk, however as intelligent as they are, Manticores do not understand languages and can't speak coherently but are smart enough to use their mimicry to lure and confuse other humanoids.
