Navigator Tive with the assistance of the ship's sentience attempts to destroy the 'Pirate Bay' orbital construction facility before it hits a major tourist city. The same city where her crew is currently enjoying a little bit of R&R.

Actually yes, they are the PaxNora humans' gravity tech weapons, taken to the next stage of extreme technical evolution. The warheads actually create a temporary dimensional rift, and suck a small portion of the 'real' universe into the Mirror Horizon, my pseudo-hell dimension, where FTL travel is possible.

It's all a bit muddled, but the sieging fleet in orbit is presumed responsible for knocking it out of orbit. But no one is claiming the blame for this one.
The Laughing Swarm's Mimic frigate just happened to be right next to one of the impact zones, with almost all the crew on the surface. If that station hits, and the Mimic is survives, someone is defiantly going to pay. :C
