Description
Taken in August 2016, through our bedroom window! Canon Rebel T3i, shutter speed priority 1/1600, ISO 1600 or 3200 (don't remember which, as it depended on the light at the time, and it was early morning), daylight setting, handheld (no tripod) - yep, that's my usual mode of operation for taking early morning photos of these babies! And NO, I did NOT photoshop that background! That happened due to having the lens zoomed in all the way, so the whole background blurred like that! We've had a fair number of hummers here at our house this year, and it's been wonderful watching them, and getting to photograph them....and having them eat out of a little feeder in our hands!!!Related content

Thanks, hon! I have folders and folders and folders of hummingbird photos I've taken, as we get them in our yard every Summer! We put out multiple feeders for them, and I stand around in the yard, or just inside a window / door, camera in hand, waiting for the little birdies to accommodate my photography habit...

I will have to look into add a bird feeder. I have a rabbit that lives in my garden, just lives doesn't eat anything....He scares me everytime I water...

LOL! Really, it's well worth putting out feeders for the hummingbirds; just remember, you have to keep that sugar water changed out a fair bit, especially in hot weather, as it will go sour easily. But at this point, they're already migrating back to more southern, tropical climes for the winter, so you need to wait until early spring to set any feeders up, unless you're out west, where they tend to stay year-round.

Great shot! Love the detail in the tail feathers and I love the color of the neck feathers! The bokeh in the background is dreamy.
