E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is © 1982 - 2007 Amblin Entertainment and Steven Spielberg. All Intellectual Rights Reserved.25 years later, and this movie still makes me tear up.
I was watching the 20th Anniversary DVD, and started sketching this little fellow during the bath scene, and finished and uploaded it by the time the ending credits were rolling.
I was imagining him conducting the movie's score, and I freehanded it right down the coloring stage, and I liked how it turned out. I should really do more of this kind of painting styles more often.

It was also the first movie I remember seeing. We were lying in the back of my mom and dads station wagon at the drive in. *sigh* You did a wonderful job. I love the coloring style.

It still bugs me that they changed the guys guns to walkie talkies, it really stands out and there was no reason to edit that movie.

I think about it this way; The policemen are basically holding shotguns, 12 gauge shotguns and high-powered rifles to a bunch of kids in BMXs. That's kind of extreme, even if they think the 'alien' may be dangerous.
Steven Spielberg said, even in the beginning of that shot, he was apprehensive about those guns, so given the chance to go back, he simply went for what he feels is right.
