Description
Kestral Ridge is a fictitious place, located in a fictitious forested mountain range.
All kinds of beautiful scenery may be found nearby, from the beach to the mountains and from the desert to the forest.
The climate varies from region to region as you'd expect it to, but all places are relatively warm and pleasant in the spring,
hot and sunny in the summer, chilly and rainy in the autumn, and cold and snowy in the winter.
The main focus of Kestral Ridge Ranch is stock horses, such as American Quarter Horses, American Paint Horses, and Appaloosas.
We are a predominantly western facility, specializing in a variety of western disciplines.
1) Main House
The house has the same outside structure as the other buildings on the estate: a soft sandy color of stone with an orange roof and lots of warm wooden accents. The house has a large living room and a large separate kitchen. There is one bedroom downstairs with a small, but functional bathroom which is used as a guest room. Upstairs are three more bedrooms and another (bigger) bathroom.
2) Apple Tree Orchard
The orchard is attached to the main house. Select horses are occasionally turned out here to eat the fallen apples and keep the grass short. The apples are harvested every Autumn.
3) Caretaker's Home
This house is situated very close to the horses, near the secondary barn, and is surrounded by pastures with a direct view of the lower riding arena. The house has two floors. On the first floor you can find the kitchen with a sliding door to the living room. The house isn't very big, but it certainly is very cozy. In the hallway you can find the restroom and the stairways up to the second floor. Upstairs is another restroom and three bedrooms; one bigger than the others. The primary caretaker lives in the master bedroom
4) Main Stables
This large yet cozy barn is home to the horses of Kestral Ridge. Until our horses fill the barn, the barn will also be open to boarders and people wishing to train their horses at Kestral Ridge.
Barn Features:
Wide aisles
Thirty 15x15 stalls (each with it's own tack locker)
Four wash/grooming stalls
A large tack room (with private lockers for the staff)
Feed room / Kitchen (has two sinks with hot and cold water)
Hayloft (above feed room)
Restroom
All stalls on the property have automatic waterers, fixed feed bins, hay nets, and hanging toys (including the stalls in the secondary barn).
5) Secondary Stables / Foaling Barn
This barn doesn't currently have any permanent residents, but can be used for boarders (once the main barn fills up), as a guest stable during competition season, and as a foaling barn.
Barn Features:
Ten 15 x 15 stalls
Five 15x30 foaling stalls
Two wash/grooming stalls
Tack room
Feed room (has a sink with hot and cold water)
Restroom
6) Pastures
There are pastures scattered around the property. They're kept as natural as possible, so all sorts of wild grasses and wildflowers grow beneath the fences (any toxic plants have been removed). Trees, some of which are hundreds of years old, beautify the pastures; they provide shade and shelter for the horses throughout the year. There is enough pasture space for all resident and boarded horses to live outside, year round. Use of the pastures is rotated to prevent over-use and allow regeneration of the grass and other foliage, so there is usually at least one fallow pasture.
6a. Horse pastures
6b. Cow pasture (the 12 cows that call Kestral Ridge home live here)
7) Sand Paddocks
There are three paddocks which can be used as turnouts or small arenas.
8) Uncovered Round Pens
We have two uncovered round pens, one of which is enclosed with a high, solid fence to limit outside distractions when training (the one below the main barn). The other is fenced with a 7' high wooden fence.
9) Indoor Round Pen
This round pen is completely enclosed and can be used comfortably in all weather.
10) Riding Arenas
There are three sand arenas, all of which are large enough that multiple horses can be worked simultaneously with plenty of room.
10a. Often used for groundwork and a variety of western disciplines.
10b. Often used for barrel racing and gymkhana, has bench seating for spectators.
10c. Cattle arena, where any cow training takes place. Also used for a variety of other western disciplines.
11) Indoor Arena
This arena is completely enclosed and can be used comfortably in all weather. A set of three barrels and several poles are usually kept in a storage room at one end of the arena.
12) The Unused Lands
To the right there are a couple of open meadows. Lots of wildflowers and other beautiful plants and grasses grow here. The flowers bloom in the spring, and throughout the summer, and sometimes into autumn. It's a joy to ride through and it's a relief to know that we have room to grow if we ever need to.
13) Parking Lot
This lot is for visitor vehicles and horse trailer parking. It's a large lot so parking is never an issue. There is also a garage where our tractors and trailers are kept, out of the way and out of the weather. A tall green hedge surrounds the lot.
14) Trail and Training Course
On the upper part of our estate's property we have made a trail and training course (formerly a Cross Country course). There are two natural lakes and plenty of natural and man-made obstacles, including a variety of pole configurations, a bridge, cones and a gate. There are also trails that lead into the open forest above our property. The lakes are a popular summer hangout for our riders (and the horses!)
15) Bus Stop
This is where the local bus stops every two hours. The bus drives to the village near by, but will also take you to and from the bigger cities twice a day. This is how our employees or visitors come to the ranch when they don't have their own transportation.
16) Crop Fields
These fields are owned by the farmer that lives south of the Ranch (the farmer who originally owned this land). A road is all that separates our properties. The lands are usually full of crops, including grain, corn and hay. We purchase said goods from him on a regular basis. A couple of years ago, the farmer renamed his farm "The Little Cottage". The farmer also owns a few Shetland Ponies and some cattle. Sheep and cows roam the land that has a rest year from growing crops, so often when we look across the road we see cows, sheep, the ponies and sometimes even a few goats as temporary residents.
17) Forest Trails
The forest trails cross the main road and head into the forest and its wilderness. The forest has great trails to ride over and makes good for endurance training as well as casual trail riding.
18) Road to the Village
Not far down the road is the local village. The village isn't large, but it has a nice market and a few smaller shops where you can find everything you need. The village is usually quiet, but when you know to find the (right) saloon, you can have a great night with the nicest people you've ever known.

Thank you! I couldn't have done it without fediarwoods though, lol. It was originally a predominantly English facility, so I altered a few things, but the structures are all the same. I was just lucky enough to be the first to comment when the map went up for sale. xD
