Yeah, the "canon" Broly is so much better IMO. The old one was just a pretty bland evil raging berserker... canon-Broly's a properly deep and relateable character you can sympathise with; and is definitely the better incarnation by far I'd say...

Though the way classic Broly shouts out "KAKAROT!!" chills me. Especially when he says this to Piccolo's statement of him being a monster. A quote I often liked to use: "A Monster...? No...I AM THE DEVIL!" or "No...I AM A DEMON!"

Yeah, there were certainly cool things about the original, but I'll take canon-Broly hands down. The original was just a sociopathic berserker and pretty one dimensional tbh. The new Broly's an awesome character, rather than just such a generic bad guy... His story with Bah really added to him as well. Far better than the guy who hated Goku just because he used to cry a lot :/

And you forgot the original Broly was stabbed to death by orders of King Vegeta as a baby. That could have also had an effect on his mind. Mental illnesses can come in all shapes and sizes especially in upbringings.
