Description A left hook smashed directly into his face, sending the ax-wielder reeling back away from the smaller catgirl. Capitalizing on this moment of weakness she ran forward, quickly landing a roundhouse to his face, then a reverse roundhouse. The catgirl growled softly, wincing as she walked away holding her side. "Damn, I got careless…" She muttered, hearing him crumpling to the ground behind her.

She shook her head with a shrug, continuing on her way; she eyed a temple in front of her with a raised eye brow. "I wonder if this'll…" She started to say when a crackle of static erupted in her earpiece.

"Kara, do you read me?" She heard someone say on the other side of the radio, nodding to herself when she recognized the speaker as Niiko.

"Yeah, I got you loud and clear," Kara replied, glancing around. She knelt, eyeing a few marks on the ground in curiosity. She frowned, recognizing them as foot prints. She shrugged, standing up again as she continued. "Anything on your mind, pet?"

"No, no, nothing master. I just wanted to check on your progress. Do you need me to send in some back up?" Even over the radio, Kara could hear Niiko's shyness, giggling as she tilted her head to the side.

"That's quite alright. I'll be just fine by myself," She glanced to the side, leaning back from a spear thrust, and leveling a trio of punches that left her assailant staggering, finishing with an uppercut that sent him off to dream land.  "Hey,  Niiko. I know it's odd to ask this now, but…do you have a god you follow?" She turned away from her fallen victim, not even taking the time to look the savage over.

"Yes. I have you, my mistress…" his reply made her laugh a little, shaking her head in amusement. "What about you?"

Kara went quiet at that question, putting a hand to her chest. 'No, I don't have any god I follow,' she wanted to say, but she couldn't. She was supposed to be a paladin, a knight that fought on behalf of a god. For her to not have a deity she followed was…wrong. As it was, she was little better  then the knights of old, who served naught but a king.

"Of  course I follow a god, Niiko! I'm a paladin, for god's sake! I can't be a proper paladin without a patron deity, now can I?" Kara didn't flinch once during the lie, cutting Niiko off in mid-sentence as she silenced her ear piece. She stared up at the massive door, well over five times her height, as she neared it, swallowing hard.  "This door is so frikkin big…" She muttered to no one in particular, taking a breath before entering. On the inner walls of the temple were various depictions of foxes and some kind of bird. Kara didn't know much about mythology, but she could tell from the many, many images of bowing…animals?…that it appeared to be some kind of god.

"Man, I wish I had thought to bring my sword with me…" She muttered to herself, sighing. "Of course, had I known I'd be fighting natives in the deep woods of the Zhurun continent, I most likely would've…" She shook her head, sighing as she leaned against a tree. "I never thought I'd return here again…"

Memories came unbidden to her heart; being abandoned at the age of six on the steps of a building she did not recognize;  wandering the halls of the school that had become her home; wondering about who her parents were, and why she had been left all alone.

"Stop it…" she muttered to herself, closing her eyes. Her clenched fist shivered as she shook her head.

'Teacher? Who are my parents?' A younger catgirl asked, staring up at a heavily bearded wolf anthro.

"STOP IT!" Kara shouted, trying to drive the image from her mind.

"Stop what? I'm just saying hello."

Kara jumped, startled at the unexpected voice, looking around wildly. She tilted her head, staring now at what looked to be a…massive…face… She took a step away slowly, her eyes following the body up, and up, and up… "HOLY CRAP YOUR HUGE!" She shouted, edging back. She could feel the ribbon on her tail start to pulse, shivering as she stared up at the enormous kitsune before her. "W-What're you, AACK!" She held back a yelp of surprise as the nine tailed kitsune picked her up by the back of her shirt carefully, lifting her.

"Hello, who are you? How did you get in here?" She asked, eyes wide in curiosity. Kara didn't respond. Fear stole her voice as her feet kicked fiercely. Her tail ribbon started pulsing more and more urgently…

"I-I'm Kara Z-Z-Zastel…" The tiny cat whimpered softly. She closed her eyes, looking away sharply as the kitsune's free hand came down. A single, massive finger scratched against the bottom of her chin, prompting an unintentional purr.

"Such a pretty name! I'm Angel," The kitsune turned her hand, dragging her finger slowly down Kara's back.
