“I have really got to learn to stop falling 50+ story falls…” Hiro murmured sleepily, laying on his back where he had landed after getting away from the naga. He couldn’t really feel his arms, but as far as he could tell he had somehow managed to avoid serious, crippling injuries, and his immense good luck honestly surprised him, especially once he realized that Anna wasn’t giving chase. He stared up, his sharp eyes barely managing to penetrate the gloom of late night, seeing the outline his pained body had made as it had fallen through leafy branches and took a breath, relieved just to be alive, although he had a sneaking suspicion that once he regained the feeling in his arms and legs that relief would disappear. He started to regain the feeling in his right arm, and the pain that he felt lancing through his body was remarkably intense, and it grew with each heartbeat, making him rethink his estimation that he had avoided serious, crippling injuries.“Ugh…best to…be grateful…I’m alive…” he murmured softly to himself, wincing as more feeling returned to his right arm, noticing an oddly tickling sensation coming from his left arm. He started and drew his left arm away, thinking that something was trying to eat him, but sighed in relief when he realized that it was just the blood pulsing through it. He shook his head to keep his ever slipping consciousness and focused so intently on his right arm that his brain started to hurt, but to no avail, as he sunk into a deep dream-filled sleep.
Eventually, after a period of several hours, as dawns light slowly started to creep over the horizon, Hiro’s eyes flickered, staring to the side blearily seeing what looked like a female’s face, hovering inches over his head, the mouth twisted in a lop-sided grin. He rolled onto his side closing his eyes, but then they flew open as Hiro heard the girl lick his lips and he quickly leaped away fumbling for his sword. The girl laughed, setting her chest bouncing and jiggling as she leaned back scratching her nose with a claw tipped finger.
“Good morning!” she said, a wide smile on her face as she gestured at a bowl of some kind of broth. "You've got to be hungry...Have some!" Hiro stared at the girl suspiciously before he took a sip of the broth, surprised by how rotten it tasted.
"Blech!" he gasped and spat it out his hands at his throat. "What was that!?!"
"It's a stew. You don't like it?"
"Worse thing I ever tasted!"
The girl looked down tears in her eyes. "You hate it?"
Hiro saw the face the girl was making and snatched up the broth drinking it down nearly gagging on it. "No! Of course not! It's delicious!" The girl shook her head and smiled.
"There's no need to lie, ya know. What's your name?"
"Name's Hiro Kauzome Legacy Strife. You?"
"You can call me Jenna." The girl stared at Hiro closely for a few moments as if appraising him. Hiro blushed uncomfortably and looked away, staring at her with a critical eye out of the corner of his eye.
She was wearing a tight blue tank top and black shorts. Her long black hair was tied back in a pony tail and she was wearing a black cap, and a knife made of some kind of blue material was in its sheath on her side. Jenna noticed his stare after a few moments and struck him hard on the back of the head knocking him to the ground.
"What do you think you're staring at pervert!?!" she shouted crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"What did you just call me!?!" Hiro shouted back at her clenching his fists in rage.
"You heard me pervert!" Jenna shouted back going red. Hiro looked like he was going to shout something but he stopped noticing an odd prickling of the hairs on the back of his neck. He wondered what the feeling was for a moment, instinctively drawing his diamond blade and looking over his shoulder. Jenna continued yelling insults at him for several minutes before she realized that he wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention to her. After another moment she realized that the sounds of wildlife had completely disappeared. "What's going on Hiro?" she asked worriedly her left hand drifting down towards the hilt of her knife.
"...the hunter is come..." he said mysteriously, casting his gaze all over the place in an attempt to find the predator before it was to late. He snapped his gaze to the right and up and leaped back pulling Jenna along with him as he saw something lash out of the woods at where they had been standing moments before. Jenna screamed in fear and bolted, looking like nothing more then a blur as she dashed. Hiro stood a few moments longer staring down the assailant in the eyes, but, inevitably, he turned and dashed down the path that Jenna had just taken easily catching up to her thanks to the rune on his right hand. Jenna looked down feeling something wrap around her chest and blushed really deeply when she realized that it was Hiro's hand. Before she could hit him though, Hiro tensed his legs and sprung off, running so fast that, when he passed a trio of explorers, the breeze from his passing knocked all of them down to the ground, nearly tearing the clothes off of them. Hiro tripped on a stick sending both him and Jenna into a headlong roll that ended with Hiro crashing face first into a tree and Jenna landing on her back on his, completely knocking him unconsious.
"O-o-o-o-ow..." Jenna muttered rubbing her aching head. "What...what happened?" She wondered sitting up shakily. She looked down at Hiro and gasped seeing blood running down his face. She poked him hesitantly.
"Hiro? Hiro?" When he didn't reply she looked around to see if anyone was watching and licked her lips. "Well...I guess he won't care since he's dead." She leaned forward to put Hiro's head in her mouth, but Hiroshook his head and sat up rubbing his badly bleeding face.
"Ow..." he murmured, rubbing his face. He shook his head vigorously and looked over his shoulder at Jenna who was staring at him with a very surprised look on her face, her mouth wide open. Hiro twitched startled and jumped away landing on his feet and falling on his butt since he was still unsteady from when he kissed the tree. "What the hell do you think you're doing!?" He shouted, scared. Jenna pouted and put her finger to her lips thinking. Hiro didn't even wait for a response but stood up and ran awkwardly away since he had to lean forward far more then he was used to just to keep his balance, occasionally pushing off the ground with his hands to keep balanced. Jenna chased after him easily keeping pace with him, licking her lips hungrily. Hiro leaped up over Jenna’s grabbing arm and somersaulted in mid air coming down hard on one foot on Jenna’s face knocking her down to the ground and rolling forward to put more distance between him and her. Unfortunately, since he was still weak from not only using his wind rune so much but from his violent face to trunk meeting with a tree, it was all he could do just to stay conscious. He grabbed at his stomach, feeling nauseous. He looked over his shoulder weakly to see Jenna standing behind him licking his lips.
As Jenna lowered her head to him, Hiro regarded the entire scene with an odd sense of resignation that he wasn’t used to feeling. *I guess this is the end…* he thought. He saw Jenna moving her lips like she was talking but he couldn’t hear anything she was saying. Darkness swirled in from the edges of his vision obscuring everything, and the last thing Hiro felt before he lost consciousness was Jenna’s mouth on his head.
* * * * * *
Hiro groaned and rubbed his eyes sitting up as best he can. “What happened…? Where…where am I?” He looked around seeing only black. “What…” Tears appeared in his eyes as he sank to his knees pressing his clenched fists against his eyes. “N-N-NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” he shouted overdramatically, dramatically throwing his arms up in the air. “I have been…eaten!” he finished, overdramatically falling into a comedic slump, curling up into a tightly compacted ball, not noticing the fact that it’s dry where he is, not wet or humid..
Jenna yawned and rubbed her eyes, bored. She jumped when she heard Hiro shout and looked over her shoulder at Hiro’s extra dimensional pack that she was carrying over her right shoulder. “What is it Hiro-kun?” she asked curiously opening the pack and looking inside at the tiny Hiro far within.
“You ate me! I am doomed to languish in a haze of perpetual vapor until I get digested! Oh…why me?!” He slumped even farther down tears in his eyes not noticing the light bathing the inside of the pack. Jenna stared down at him her eyes half lidded, a large sweatdrop appearing on the right side of her head.
“Um…right…whatever,” she said slowly, closing the pack. “I’ll leave you to your anguish then.” After several minutes, she heard Hiro moving again and was surprised when she heard a guitar being played. “Huh?”
♪Go now if you want it another world awaits you don’t you give up on it the other world awaits you…All alone in the cold fields I wander sight clouded by my memories my sleep disturbed and my memories faded I’ve lost my way, the fallen knight.♪
Jenna peeked over her shoulder and smiled. “Play on my rune-aided swordsman…play on…soon…the world will never hear your music again.” She said softly and dramatically, not the least bit surprised when she heard the guitar play a dramatic riff, effectively breaking her serious mood. “Hahaha!”
She kept walking enjoying the music that Hiro was playing not even alert for danger. Fortunately though, it seemed that all the predators in that particular part of the forest were indisposed in some way, as nothing chased and/or stalked them. After an hour, when they were nearing their destination Jenna stopped and looked at the pack again wondering if there was someone else in there, since she could hear a flute and a guitar being played in perfect harmony.
“Hiro? Is someone in there with you?” she asked curiously looking in the pack. She just stared incredulously at Hiro playing a guitar with his hands while he expertly played some odd-looking ridged flute as he held it with his tail. “…” She shook her head and stared in surprise noticing an odd feeling starting to come over her as if she was drunk. Hiro just played on on his instruments, not noticing Jenna.
Jenna didn’t even understand what was happening. It was as if someone had just forced her to drink an incredible amount of alcohol. She started to sway and sunk to her knees bright red. She carefully pulled Hiro out and held him in front of her face, licking her lips. Before she could do anything though, Hiro intensified the music he was playing and the flood of intoxicating music was quite simply too much for Jenna, who slumped and fell on her back spread-eagled looking like she was dead. Hiro landed easily on his feet and sat down as he grew back to his normal size. He stopped playing after a few moments and looked at Jenna an amused expression on his face.
“Heheheh! She just couldn’t resist the intoxicating waves of music from my flute. Hmm…” He reached out towards her unmoving forehead but stopped and looked into the trees seeing what looked like an intoxicated naga approaching. He tried to pick up Jenna and drag her into the bushes but he knew it was a little late for that because the naga had already seen them. After a moment as the naga slithered closer Hiro sighed and drew his diamond blade standing in a defensive battle stance. The naga slithered right up to him and stared at him blearily before giggling drunkenly and curling up around him.
“Hello Hiro! I found you again!” She slurred before giggling again. If Hiro had had any doubts about who it was before they certainly weren’t there now.
“Crisis!?! What the hell are you doing to me!?! Let me go!” he shouted at her struggling to get free and managing to get one hand free. Crisis yawned and rested her head on her coils almost crushing Hiro under her head, but Hiro managed to get out from under her just in time. He pulled his legs out from under Crisis and leaped down landing lightly next to Jenna, who was miraculously not only alive and uncrushed, but also fast asleep. Hiro sighed and picked up Jenna, her shoulders on his, carrying her away.
“Geeze…what a day…” Hiro murmured exhausted as he lay in a hole in a tree, holding Jenna tightly as he drifted off to sleep as well.

ah, sorry, she's a normal human...Hiro just appeared small because his backpack is both (A) extra dimensional so that he can carry 5 years worth of supplies and (B) condenses its contents so that the wearer isn't bogged down by all the excess weight. (C) it also camouflages perfectly in any situation in the Frelaryan forest, which is why it hasn't been taken from him, until now, at least
