The program used to create this is Mandelbulb 3d and can be found if you follow the link above to Fractforums and click on the "Downloads" option at the top. Here you can download the latest version, 1.67. Give it a try if you want and be patient and it will take you to some amazing places.

I have had similar rendering problems with these types of fractals. I finally came up with one I liked. Here is the parameter that I used for this image.

I didn't credit Lenord above but should have. I will fix that. I do credit him on the image "Attack of the Bulbosaurses" that is linked above though.
I think maybe I like these types of fractals because I grew un in Idaho and they remind me of potatoes.
