Description
So I literally saw from ALL THE WAY across the street when I was transitioning hotels (because Dragon*Con is hosted in 5 different ones) and all I saw was a long blue ponytail and silver boots and was like "Omg it's Ember. I am too big of a Danny Phantom nerd to NOT know who she is." So I chased her down and was out of breath by the time I got to her. I'd never seen Ember in real life, so I was way stocked. Sorry this description is WAY too long, you probably didn't read. xDRelated content

HI! THAT'S ME!
Glad you liked it! I will post some pictures on my page too, as well as some of the making of the guitar and boots and everything (both are homemade).
I'll also probably wear this for AWA too except the boots and body paint should be much better then.

Oh, awesome, I'll see you at AWA then!!
And yeah, don't worry about it, people make mistakes. And there's always room for improvement. One of the many things I've learnd in my one year of cosplaying. This is really impressive anyways, its just too perfect. Idk what you'd need to change ^^

Was your guitar a real guitar? Because it REALLY looks like one

It is. I will post more about it later but here's the basics.
First we took a picture of the neck, traced it onto graph paper and scaled it up to life size. We scaled it wrong btw, the neck is way too short but know that the guitar is not at all proportional to a real guitar.
The body was two pieces of plywood glued together which my dad (who did the whole thing) cut with a Zig Saw (I believe, other types of saws would probably work better, a band saw for one). From there we sanded it and tried to rout the edges (didn't have the right bit, if you do have a good one use it) and then routed out places for the hardware. Then we primed and painted the whole thing (don't paint the turquoise parts purple first! We learned that the hard way) purple.
We bought a real guitar on ebay and disassembled it. We took most of the real hardware from that guitar and put it in ours (I'll put pictures of it up and everything) And we used the real guitar neck. While it might be tempting to use a plywood neck the guitar won't play without it. This is because real guitar necks have a metal beam inside to keep them perfectly straight. Plywood will bend. If you really don't care about it playing you can just make your own neck.
Lastly we hand painted the turquoise on, and made a faux head to go over the real head.
We're still making improvements, for starters her little buttons aren't on it. We were going to make the buttons light up and put speakers in the back of the guitar but we ran out of time. (I got both of these ideas from another Ember cosplayer.)
If you'd rather do it a different way you should ask [link] because her cosplay is amazing.

Wow! Thanks for the info! That could really help me ^^ I dont have the money to buy a real guitar (and I can't use mine because my parents gave it to my brother) so I'm making a fake out guitar right now out of foam board. It won't look nearly as nice as yours but it will get it's job done ^^

It's actually not very expensive. My dad chose the guitar to buy on ebay end it ended up being 60$ I think (he payed half, I payed half) but he's reselling the body for 30 or so so it was really just 30 in all. We also chose a nicer guitar, I would bet you could get this way down in price if you don't care about sound quality. Then again, it's a costume, it doesn't really have to work.

That's actually not as expensive as I thought. I'll have to think about this... It's already going to cost money to gert the wig and new boots (since the ones I have are falling apart) So I dont know how much of a budget I am on right now.

We actually made the boots. They were just fake Converse and then we cut out three pieces of plywood and glued them together to make the platform. From there we painted it silver. You can't find good, silver, platform boots without breaking the bank.
