After Optimus Prime was killed in battle against Galvatron and Lockdown, the Matrix of Leadership was entrusted to Ultra Magnus. Β But he felt he was not worthy to lead the Autobots, so he asked Hot Rod to care for it. Β When the time to destroy Unicron came, the Matrix awakened and reformed Hot Rod into the new Autobot leader... Rodimus Prime.

i am a fan of hot rod himself, but im not a fan of rodimus prime. you see i dont really like the concept of hot rod leading the autobots, i dont know why.

Nicely done here. I like that Rodimus here has a semi truck alternate mode. Reminds me of his depiction in "Energon."

Well, technically in G1. Rodimus still had the alt. mode he had as Hot Rod. The thing they added when he became Prime was they gave him a trailer. A trailer that also happened to mysteriously disappear and reappear whenever he changed form I might add. XD

I figured. Β I felt he could use a more Prime-like build in robot mode and vehicle mode. Β Optimus and Sentinel were trucks, so why not Rodimus?

Huh. So it's Galvatron and Lockdown who bring Optimus' end. But hopefully he put them down somehow before he died. Though i am a bit surprised with the Ultra Magnus bit. I mean, i know he felt unworthy to weild the Matrix before, but still took it out of respect and consideration for Optimus. This is quite different, though i can see this happen. After all, Magnus does strike me as the kind of guy who is willing to lead when it's necessary, but is too humble to accept the actual leader role. Not to mention giving Rodimus, i mean Hot Rod,Β theΒ Matrix so soon at least lets him avoid getting blown to bits by the sweeps, or drawn and quartered, again. And i think it gives more tension to the situation, and a chance for Hot Rod to develop as a character, with the Matrix remaining dormant inside him for most of the time, with only slight hints of its power appearing. And then, when Unicron unleashes his fury on all the Cybertronians, it awakens its power, and gives Rodimus what he needs to light their darkest hour.

Thank you for that. If there's anything i pride myself on, it's my own knowledge of Transformers lore, which is a major favorite of mine aside from kaiju lore. And i especially love the story, or any story, related to Rodimus, Unicron, and even The Matrix itself. So much intrigue, and so much to enjoy from this series and franchise. Which is why i love it so.
