one upshot of the "young justice" cartoon premiere is it gave me the furious urge to draw YJ proper. also bart/kon was a journal request. i love my watchers
i almost titled this "DDD17" instead of 15 because finals week prevented me from actually drawing anything on the 15th or 16th, but i've noticed that due to my penchant for uploading things way past midnight, few of my title-dates have correlated to the upload-dates anyway. plus i'm behind on my requests so i can't just skip numbers
(PS: for the record, DDD stands for "December Drawing Day," as in "this was day X of December Drawing Month". i didn't just muck up the acronym
)characters not mine and such. BUT IF THEY WERE YOU CAN BET THAT CARTOON WOULD BE A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT DIFFERENT
am i supposed to file comic book fanart under "book" or "miscellaneous"? on that note, why the hell ISN'T there a separate fanart category for "comic book/graphic novel/manga"?

Well, i can't say that I blame them for it. It would get tiering to have to come up with all the stuff he WOULDEN'T understand and have other characters have to stop to explain it to him EVERY TIME.

that's not what i meant. bart's from the 30th century and he's been to 20th century school; he's not STUPID. he's just ironically slow when it comes to certain types of social situations and jokes. for example, superboy once posed the question "if you could have lunch with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would you pick?" and impulse asked "why would i want to have lunch with a dead person? they'd be all rotting and gross." it's those little colloquialisms and puns that you sort of CAN'T explain, so other characters usually just told him to forget it 
to be honest, reading an entire library on an (dare i say it!) impusle is absolutely something bart would do. but suddenly he has the magical ability to memorize everything and becomes "encyclopedia boy"? not digging that. especially since back in his own comic, trying to speed-read things is what would get him in trouble a lot because--as max pointed out often--you don't retain things as well if you read them at superspeed. 180-degree stupid retcon was 180-degrees and stupid >:C

I got so excited when I heard Young Justice was coming out as a cartoon and then I say it was really just another mixed teen titans generations show and got really sad.

I felt like such a nerd reading this. That first bit I was really focused on because it was explaining what it was like to have super strength and I've always wanted to know. 
But when I snapped out of my nerdity I saw the pictures!

well actually... *adjusts glasses* kon doesn't have super-strength. he just mimics it with tactile telekinesis. rather than just using super muscles to physically lift heavy things, kon uses his mind to do most of the work. this is why i had bart mention lifting a truck rather than say "super-strength" outright. that being said, it seems to me that a lot of kon's TTK has gotten more subconscious over the years. in his old comic, he used to preform physically impossible balancing acts with objects because all he needed was for a finger to be touching some part of it. but i think it's evolved from "i am touching this; i want it to move up now" to "i'm superboy; when i touch this, it should feel light to me," so he goes for the more classic sort of gravity-adhering lifting and throwing actions. he still has to concentrate, but it's a much less complex version

i suppose they're also trying to make him less complicated. in his old comics and YJ, he spent a lot of time explaining to people how his powers work. in fact he talked about it so much that he used sitting on impulse and explaining them in detail as a threat

thanks! and yes i looooove bart's hair... sad but true fact is that i would've accepted his change to kid flash a lot easier if they'd just let him keep his original haircut |D longish brown hair is so distinctly BART that when they hacked it off and stuck him in a new costume, people started seeing "kid flash" instead of "bart". he even started getting miscolored a lot. ...CRY MOAR, DAKT. >_>

haha funny story about that tank top... i brainfarted and forgot how gravity works, so the line that looks like his chest is actually the armhole, and what looks like the drooping armhole is actually just a fold
