Description so i had a journal mini-contest a while back.... won, and asked for a sketch of the original JLA team. at first i was going to do something generically heroic, but i've started doodling around with spectrum scout stuff and am running out of inspiration for more heroic poses XDD

so then i was like... kids are fun! 8D and while the comics HAVE already done it (("sins of youth"; READ IT. NOW.)), they didn't do it with the classic team! so i got to kidify hal and barry myself good times.

anyway, the idea sorta.... exploded i went crackers sketching the playground, because the straightedge tool and i are not friends. i lost my marbles round about hour two, when i decided it would be a swell idea to NOT use the ruler when going over with dark lines, to make it look more like wood and less like steel. after that all rational thought went out the proverbial window and i psychotically proceeded to draw a background akin to my own backyard, from whence the model for the playground came. ah, my childhood. good 'ol slightly lopsided swingset there are lots of memories in this picture, i tell ya whut.

but i digress.

yup, i know that ep! (i have all the seasons of JL and JLU on DVD, actually) i daresay it too was inspired by sins of youth... at least i like to think so, anyway XD

I'm going to keep my eye out for that comic storyline. I really think it sounds fun.

As for the episode, it was fun. I kind of wished there could have been more. Each of them were quite interesting in child form, particularly I liked the dynamic between Diana and Bruce, and Bruce and Clark. Clearly, the writers were playing tongue and cheek with relationships from the show and the comics amongst them.

btw, any chance you'll do more with this kids version of the JL? I'd love to see more if you decide to.

haha omg yes, they did that ep so well i actually really like little!GL... he was so excitable and cute. and all those imaginative constructs!

hmm, i don't know. as much as i love comic books, i'm really unhappy with how things are playing out in current monthlies and sort of fell out of the fandom a bit. but i still love superheros and drawing kids, so it's never COMPLETELY out of the question XD also i might do some sketch requests during the holidays, so keep a weather eye out, maybe

I remember the push-me-push-you now. I didn't know it had a name, especially not at the time. I loved those but I totally helped to use the hell out of the playground in the backyard. It's mostly broken from being overused, plus me and my brother finally grew up. I helped to kill the twin one at my grandparents' house too. I don't know what happened to that one.

nice i don't know if pushmepullyou is the "official" name, but we always called it that because it was like the creature called that from the "dr. dolittle" books which was a goat with two front halves and no ass XD sorta like catdog...

nice though i sorta rearranged things so that everyone ended up visible... i switched the position of the pushmepullyou and the swing... and on the real one we actually have *two* swings.... but i digress XD

I-I was just expecting some Daktified Justice League a-and you did a whole scene! Of Lil' Justice League!

This is exactly why I keep an eye out for your contests and get pissed when I miss out.

The genius part (of which there are many) which I love the most is the way you gave them all their personalities in kiddie form...in ways I never would've thought of. Hal and Ollie together (of course) but Hal in a pilot's cap. Genius! Diana pissed off at the chauvanism...J'Onn with that 'I don't get it' look on his face. Genius! THe look of fun and joy on Clark...the energy of Barry! Genius. And Arthur...oh man. That is the most genius of all. A pirate! I literally choked on my words when I saw that I was so overcome by it's genius. Being a bit slow, it was one of those moments where I go "Huh? Why is he....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....Wow. That's clever."

And Bruce. My god...Bruce. Even without his pointy hood I would've been able to tell straight away who it was. Oh...here comes that coma....

And you uploaded it at a nice colouring size!

The administration of that school wasn't very good at handling behavioral problems. I don't know if they're better now. Only one of the kids in my second grade class I helped with got sent to the principal while I was there.

nice so you've student-taught or something? i know when i was in sixth grade we had "kindergarden buddies", but we only got one per person and we just did silly things like colour and make gingerbread houses XD

Yeah, more like student teaching. I was enrolled in a vocational program through my school and a community college. Three days a week, I'd meet with other high-schoolers to learn about teaching, and two days a week, I'd have 'field experience' and I went to my old elementary school to help my old third grade teacher teach her second graders (she switched grades, obviously) I had to do lesson plans and everything. My favorite kids were a) Charlie, he was klutzy and had big ol glasses. He's damned adorable. and b) Nora. She's very bright and reminds me a LOT of Luna Lovegood. Looks AND personality. She just moved onto my street though, so I get to see her all the time.

But yes, I taught. It was fun. I miss my kids and dream about visiting them sometimes.
