Description
I found this honeybee right after a light rain shower, and being able to get a tight portrait like this one is the reason I go looking after the clouds let up. I used another flower as a backdrop for the flash (thanks Mark!Tech Specs: Canon 1D MKIII (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + an MPE-65mm macro lens (@5x) + an MT-24EX macro twin flash (-1/3 FEC).

It's amazing to see the difference between an insect in actual size and close up. It's eyes have a texture to them that look like that of weaving in a cloth-like material. Those little yellow things on it must be pollen. It also looks like it has hair.

Entomologist nerdiness over, this is an amazing shot~ Adorable portrayal of one of my favorite insects.

Herp derp; it's obviously alive.
Why do people have to insult every DD that pops up, the artist said nothing about killing it, it's just a macro shot.
And, in my opinion, it takes skill to do that, eg, 'real' art.

She was alive and well when I found her and when I walked away. The rain, and the sudden drop in temperature (early spring here) caused her metabolism to drop -and that's how I manage to photograph 90% of the skittish critters you see in my gallery. I would never harm an insect to make an image.

What's your problem?
He says nowhere that this bee is dead. If his shutter speed is really fast, there's a very real chance that this bee is alive. Also, even if the bee is dead, he said he found it-- which implies it was dead before he even came upon it.
Furthermore, this is "real art," live bee or not. It's an amazing feat to be able to take a photograph of such a tiny subject with this clarity, and it's well set up, with fantastic colors.
Lastly, if you don't like it, don't comment on it or fave it. Giving the artist advice or critique is fine, but right now you just look like a child.
