Was this shot with the EOS 40D?
What lens was used?
I am a beginner but am going to an art school and planning to delve into the world of macro photography and integrate it into my graphic design work.

I use an MPE-65mm macro lens for all of my macro images.

Thanks
Most solitary bees (including the one in the photo) can't sting. They can byte, but they are more likely to fly away than attack. There are some solitaries that have run me out of the field where I shoot -very agressive...

Aww . lol I didn't know some bee's couldn't sting? Cool. I wish ALL bee's couldn't sting, I'm petrified
Oh but then they wouldn't be able to defend themselfs. hmm... I dont know. Maybe i'll just sting em back lol hehe

how did you do that? looks amazing!
What lens can do this or did you use an additional converter lens?

Thanks
I use a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens to take all of my macro (1x and higher magnification) images. The trick is to catch them on cool days when their metabolism is low.

only the lens, no extender or soemething?! That's really cool, how close where you when you shot this?

The MPE-65mm macro lens is, for all practical purposes, a reversed lens with a built in variable length extension tube -turn a ring to extend the lens and increase the magnification. For a 4x shot the working distance is 1.7".

Ahh.. I looked the lens up, and now I understand.
Wow that's a really cool lens, isn't it? up to 5x magnification, that's crazy hehe. Too bad it's so expensive
