Description
Another shot from the archives, taken at about twice life size. Be very careful when baiting honeybees -use too much bait and you'll empty out an entire hive. *cough* Not like that's ever happened to me *cough*Related content

Were you afraid when this did *cough* NOT happen to you? I usually ain't scared of any kind of insects, including the stinging and biting ones, but an entire hive would be hard to handle, I imagine...
Spectacular shot at any rate!

When it happens you just have to back off and let them clear out. It wasn't an entire hive, but it was a lot of bees...
Thanks

It's both lovely and amazing. Great title! This is only the second photo I ever saw of a bee's tongue ... I had no idea ... and the first was minutes ago

They look different but they still creep me out. Could you imagine if we had creatures like this to our scale.

WOW! This is really cool. I love bees! Not hornets/wasps, those are not bees. I get so annoyed when people call them bees. Love this!

Excelent!
Did you use close-up lenses or something?
Sometimes I wonder, why it is not possible for me to make such great macro with my macro 105 mm lenght lens.

I used Canon's MPE-65mm macro, and had to set to around twice life size.

WHOA; this is really freaking awesome. So much detail and adorableness; I don't think I've ever seen such a great shot of bees before.
