This made me smile the moment I saw it. You captured the surprise of the subject perfectly, and your model did a good job too. Nice cross-hatching, good job on the hair and eye... and I love the way you have the foreground in detail and let the background fade away.

nice idea, although I believe it would've looked better if you hadn't drawn on the eye (I mean especially the iris/pupil area, I don't mind eyelashes). the girl looks like she's seeing something bright and amazing, but the eye lacks the gleam, the shine, the reflection of that wonder. the way you drew on it, it's dull. which spoils an otherwise interesting concept.

I do agree, I think this would look much better if areas such as the eye were untouched but unfortunately for this image it was part of a college project and I was working towards a brief. However I will take that on board and when I get my original copy off college macs I shall use your advice
