Also: didn't he tell Nieves to run while he would stop the unicorn? So Nieves didn't necessarily leave him behind. She was pregnant after all, too.

I wonder what happened to his horns. Did he habe magical piwers which he used against the unicorns so they broke his horns?

And yes, he is not mad at Nieves, he is kind of mad at himself for throwing his life away to help someone he didn't even know, and just thinking that his family would be heartbroken if they ever know about it (even if his act was 'heroic' in some way)
