Description
This is something I've been wanting to try for a while - a straight recreation (as opposed to the mash-up cover recreations I've done in the past) of the cover of one of the comics that helped change me into a comic fan as a kid.In this case, Captain America 283, a great Zeck montage.
The original cover was created by Mike Zeck and John Beatty, copyright Marvel Comics.

Zeck and Beatty are one of my favorite penciler/inker duos! Great job, sir!

Yeah, that was a disaster!
By the way, is there any book collecting that Captain America era, or the Master of Kung-fu Zeck did?

It looks like they haven't gotten to reprinting the Zeck era yet - if they do another Essentials, that will be the next one (for Cap).
It doesn't look like MoKF has that kind of reprint set yet

Too bad! But that is a nice tip, I'm gonna watch out those Essentials.

There was always something appealing about Viper. I could never quite put my finger on it.
My hat's off to your meticulous reproductions, Chris.

Thank you, squire(ess). Viper... mmm. I think it was the whole only-one-eye-showing mysterioius thing. I'd read rumors that her other eye was all jacked/missing or some shit, but whatever. Hot!

That is a great cover choice. I think you honor not only the artists that illustrated these covers but the era as well. Thank you so much for keeping that torch burning.

Thanks, Larry! As I'm sure I've stated before, the Bronze Age was my 'golden' (age 6-12) age of comics, which I still have the most affection for to this day.

Brother, every cover recreation you do is a slice of goodness from my early/late teens. This Zeck/Beatty Cap is no exception. that was one wild ride of a run. Great job here!

I know, right? That run ended right around the time I was picking up collecting comics (about the time Secret Wars I started). Even at 12, I knew that J.M. DeMatteis was doing some different work.
Thanks!
