Description
This is something I've been wanting to try for a while - a straight recreation (as opposed to the mash-up cover recreations I've done in the past) of the cover of one of the comics that helped change me into a comic fan as a kid.In this case, Claws of the Cat #1 - the precursor to the character Tigra.
The original cover was created by Marie Severin and Wally Wood, copyright Marvel Comics.
Here is the original cover:

Love it! Marie and Wally created some of the most iconic moments for Marvel in the early days!
You caught the mood perfectly! How do you manage to recreate the lettering so exactly?

Thanks! The lettering is all purely traced by lightbox, so as to achieve the closest match.
Other than that, I lightbox the contours of the rest of it in pencil, then I ink freehand using a copy of the comic itself as reference.

Well done! Your repros bring back pangs of nostalgia for the simple processes used to create these masterpieces of comic art!

That's one of the reasons I do 'em!
Also, I could never afford the 5+ figures it would take to own one of the originals.

They're really fun to do, and all the hard work's done already.

This was an ill-fated series that only went 4 issues long and really should've stuck around longer then that... My personal favorite issue was #2 (where she battled The Owl of all villains). Great recreation!

Yep, at one point I had all four issues in my collection... wish I would have kept them.
Thanks!

Also the "origin" of Hellcat since she ends up wearing the costume that Greer/Tigra is wearing in these issues.

Being an admirer of catgirls in all their wonderful forms, naturally, this (excellent) cover gets my vote!
