I just watched "Dog Day Afternoon" two days ago.  I liked his performance.  Poor Sal.  He never got to see his favorite country - the state of Wyoming.

He wasn't in too many movies, but they were all great, or even Oscar award winners (Godfather II, Deer Hunter).  Just a great performer.

Wow!. Nice one!. Possibly one of the best secondary actors ever . I liked that movie, so much tension in there

Thanks!  I didn't even know about D. Day Afternoon until I'd read the parody of it in MAD Magazine, too.

There is a parody of DDA?

Anyhow, Sal is kind of tragic character, comical and naïve too, a weird mixture in that situation. You end up feeling feel sorry for the fella and is pretty clear he is going to end up bad. The actor was an expert in tragic characters doomed from the start, the real Sal was a 18 year old walking and ticking bomb

Agree that he left us too soon. He only made five movies I think...all killers. GF, GF2, DDA, The Deerhunter and oneother that escapes me...

Excellent rendition.
