Looks like a late '70s model. Is that mag brown polyamide or orange bakelite? I think they went to polyamide after bakelite.

Standard material for AK-74 mags was AG-4 plastic. Serial AK-74 mags were never bakelite.

The same, as far as I know.
I think, the difference in colour is the result of several factories all across the USSR producing them.

I read that the plum color is the natural color of polyamide plastic. The black dye they used in the '70s and early '80s made the plastic turn brittle, so they just left it its natural color.

5.45x39 The Poison Bullet! Love a model 74 everytime 1974 was the turning point for the kalashnikov rifle series and i feel the change in calibur was for the better! Great pic!
