If it's based on the RPD, does that mean it's open bolt?

Well... RPD - yes, but it is not quite it, it was just based on RPD design. With shorter barrel, no tripod etc. So it's lighter.

Eight inches of barrel is like half a kilo or a pound.

Shorter and less heavy barrel (original RPD barrel was pretty thick), some tweaks in the mechanism, removing of bipod...

Looks like a PKM, with AK furniture an barrels added.

Well, you nearly guessed. It was based on RPD.

Ah, I was close enough. Admittedly the PKM and the RPD are completely different, but still.

I like the revamp, however personally I was make it so that it ejects from the bottom, giving it a better ambidextrous feel for it, despite the magazine being off to one side.

Well... this is post-nuclear design
And nothing is perfect in post-nuclear designes

The sights are far too low if you're going with the in-line stock.
Just look at the M16 and StG-44. The sights are lifted in order to have a good cheek weld while still keeping the barrel and stock on the same line.

Hm... I see...
Forgot about it when I was making this rifle...

I'd recommend integrating the sights (at least rear) in a carry handle.
The StG-style column is obtrusive when carry is concerned.

No, it's closer to STEN SMG, Sterling SMG or FG.42 auto-rifle.

I see. I was wondering where the magazine was. So it's not flush with the body of the gun the way the P90's magazine is? It's more like the Sten where it sticks out, but just to the side instead of the bottom, right?

He's talking about the gas block.

I understood
But it is not upside down
"Viper" just uses rather rare among assault rifles scheme with gas tube under the barrel... And equally rare now weapon scheme with mag, located on the left side of the weapon.

Oh yeah, I understood that. But, that person thinks any weapon that looks like the AK-47..... must exactly function like the AK-47. I was just trying to imply the close-mindedness of the other guy who side it would upside-down.
Awesome weapon too.

You're welcome. Well AK's are a simple gun and easy to maintain, so it's a great choice.
