Revolvers make that case even moreso, as powder can be made to be as fast acting or slow acting as needed.

Slow acting is good for long barrels and gets more distance, but fast acting likes very short barrels.

Revolvers allow from incredibly powerful to incredibly weak powders as well, as the action doesn't care about power, it's the frame that does.

Needless to say, if you got a strong frame anything is possible.

It was designed for daily concealed carrying and close quarter self-defence, not for 200m firing range. And in this role it is/was far better then, for example, Colt Anaconda with  8' barrel.

Well, it's not for scaring (for actual scaring Americans designed S&W 500, but were outperformed by Austrians), but for fast, sudden firefights on "knife" distances - like, 1-5m. It is not accurate on longer ranges,yes, but it still can score headshot on distances it was designed for, or bore someone's insides. Consider it "revolving brother of Walther PPK".
