Yes. Project started inΒ US in 1990th and was nearly cancelled in 2005. However, around 2010 HK started to sell it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure XM8s didn't have 1913 rail systems for mounting things like you put in the picture. The used a different kind of mounting system called PCAP. Picatinny Combat Attachment Points.

They actually used a tiny bit of both and there was going to be a version that was entirely 1913.

I think the barrel melts when you shoot it.

Barrel lasts the same, It uses almost the identical barrel of an M4, Itβs just in 16.5 inches
Itβs better in everyway, but only by a little bit, and would cost them too much to resupply everyone.

14.5 inches sorry*
And the XM8 is 12.5 inches.

Barrel is not the same, it has different rifling and according to H&K it's specially designed to last longer.
Not sure if that is true.

Untrue, they're both chromoly barrels, The XM8 has a slightly faster twist rate to sling heavier projectiles (the 69 grains are a bit better)Β

Is the M16 cold, hammer forged steel?

They're both Cold Hammer forged, Neither are buttoned or cut. Both are lined with chrome.Β
This is bad. It's cheap and inaccurate.Β

No it's not. There is no proof that it is. The barrel is rifled to operate at 11 inches and length doesn't effect accuracy anyways.
It effects range, noises, and recoil.

Barrel Length Affects Velocity (Wind resistance, AKA Accuracy), Twist Rate affects Projectile Co efficiency Stabilization (Accuracy) and Thickness affects Heat resistance (Longer Fire times)
The more you fire out of a barrel in succession, the less accurate it becomes.
This is mixed information coming from both myself (A target shooter), and a competition Barrel ManufacturerΒ

That's for all guns if you shoot it enough times.

You can run 90 rounds out of an M16 without stopping and still be fine.
No pauses, besides reloading.

No Pauses, But the Rifles Minute of Angle Accuracy goes from 1.5 up to 5+, making it useless over 20 - 30 metersΒ
