Sargon of Akkad, ancient Mesopotamian ruler (reigned c. 2334-2279 BC), one of the earliest of the worlds's great empire builders. He established the region's first Semitic dynasty, which left a lasting impression on Mesopotamian culture, and was considered the founder of the Mesopotamian military tradition.

I like the painting - I love it, in fact. To be honest, though, Sargon looks less like a Mesopotamian and more like Donald Pleasance.
