Description That’s right, people, just answer a little question, that’s all.

What’s Visual Impact for me?

It doesn’t need to be a lengthy answer, and it’s ok even if it’s a short one. Is the color? Is the composition? Is the visual message? Is the contrast? Is the whole? Is the little part that is seen separate from the whole? Is the style? Is the format? Is the empty space? Is the texture? Is the saturation? Is something violent? Is something philosophic? Is related to your nation? Is the photography? Is the movement? Is the balance? Is geometric? Is symmetric? Is organic? Is the shape? Is the scale? Is the dimension?

Just tell me the first thing that comes to your mind. Thanks for your time!

Chibi-Mal and Chibi-Ari © teh Dan…? well, my Mal is way different from the Big N’s Malon…

Hmm..Visual impact is the overall composition for me I guess. It's how you portray the scene/emotion/etc in a picture.

Visual Impact can only go by it's definition and how the artists executes it...

if its a depressing picture, i would expect some deep dark colors.....if there was a bright flower it would present a mocking attitude to the injury or death...

its whatever you want it to be...

if you want to exeperence it...look at a picture you drew some month or maybe even a year ago...(you probably wont remember it)

find a picture that had some meaning..say you drew an angsty picture...look at he picture and feel the colors and find the emotion held within the picture...

art is not simply lines and chibis and crud...some people just dont understand that concept...your comming to the analysis that there is something greater....an artist is simply a visual poet....the canvas is his paper and his brushstrokes are his verses...he can alter his brushstrokes like one can alter a verse and change the whole meaning of the thing...

mainly...its whatever you want it to be and how you want to make us feel

did i miss the question?

if you have any other questions...feel free to ask...

art is simply visual poetry

poetry is simply literate art.

The coloring and shadowing draws me to look at the picture. The subject and/or objects makes me look in deeper than just the coloring and the shadowing, like the movement or expression of the subject, or the angle and the position of the objects. It's also the message that the artist is trying to give to the people that are looking at it. and the style creates different moods and feelings. I guess these are the things that makes visual impact for me.

What constitutes impact varies depending on what kind of art it is, and what the artist is trying to convey.
Photographs with a high amount of contrast and simplicity have impact, but--no, simple's not the right word. Minimalistic. Yeah. Or of something stunningly beautiful and out of the ordinary, something that makes the viewer's head turn and think, "I will never see this scene myself," or "this has been captured perfectly," making the photograph a precious item.

For art like the drawings you do, the ones that inspire me the most are the ones that show distinctively a difference from your ordinary style. There are many sketches you've done of different characters, but at first glance all I see is "wow, it's another great drawing of one of his characters," and not a lot jumps out. I guess I could go back to the photograph description on this one...ummm...lemme think.
Your drawings depict emotions like indifference or anger or mischeivousness, but in a lot of them the emotion isn't as brought out or represented as it could be. To me, the impact of art goes beyond the original impression: after studying all the little details--of which I like many--the piece should still come across as inspiring and something to be saved. If it survives a poring over a month after it was first seen, then it's really a memorable piece with impact. Amazing art to me is either filled with emotion and should invoke emotion in the viewer, or it should be completely impassive as though the viewer is looking at it through a dream, as totally unaware of anything else in the world around them as the world is unaware of the person looking in.

'spero que este te ayuda!!!!

First of all, cute drawing. I love how Ari's so overly protective of Mal. :D

Moving on to the question, a visual impact, for me, is all about the concept and how well the artist was able to put his original thought into the drawing. I enjoy simplitude and, above all, originality. I'll always fall for a refreshing style, or a brand new way of colouring or drawing. I'll be able to enjoy a picture furthermore if it has some story behind it; for example, a scene that shows the interaction between two characters will be highly enjoyed if it has some idea or story behind it, instead of a simple quick sketch for practice (which, albeit being interesting, will not hold so much interest).

Visual impact? Visual impact is the the after effect of seeing something that leaves you exhausted, whether it be physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional. It sends a drive through you. Some call in inspiration, some call it envy, but whatever name you choose to give it, the simple fact remains that you took it in through the eyes leaving it to move you enough with some sort of moment changing reaction.

The motion in the work. Still image of a character in a dynamic pose (like just coming off a jump, or in mid air) or just a photograph of a reed bending in the wind, the suggestion of continuing motion encapsualted in a single image (or in an animation) is it's visual impact, in meh opinion. ^_^b

Good luck!

I wish I could help you with this, but my word doesn't fall near enough to the apple tree! All I can say is you need to balance things out in the whole. If you don't have a lot of movement, go crazy with color. If your picture is simple, let it have a stronge meaning. Don't overdo any texture, same with don't underdo anything. Definitly go with your gut cause your gut knows art better than your brain.

Best of luck with you gut, Dan Dan.

For me, it's style, design, color and detail. I myself am not good with trying to get the kind of detail I want out of my head and onto paper, but when I see other artists use details and great designs with texture, that's when I can't pull my eyes away. Also, if the colors seem to just fit right with the style and the character, but you already seem to have a good handle on that part.
