Without a doubt a spoiled, bitchy, noisy brat… but deep inside she's a very loving and merry girl ^^
Ruto was born in the royal family of the Zoras of Hyrule. A tribe of Zoras of light skin. She lost her mother when she was just 4 and since then she had been distant of other people; afraid of being hurt if she got too attached to others just like happened with her mother. She'll try to keep people at bay by insulting them or acting like a spoiled brat but she's only afraid of what could happen if she opens her heart to others.

She developed a small crush on Link, but she quickly forgot that feeling when she met at Kasui, a survivor from a Zora tribe attacked by the White Cross. They fell in love at first sight and since then they have kept a very passionate and active relationship.

Despite putting always that mask of snobbish girl, Princess Ruto is a very calmed and smart girl, showing wisdom and love whenever her friends need her. She enjoys spending time with the intellectual people of the gang, like Maple, Link, Malon, Asmodeus, Medli and Komali, but she also enjoys sharing a few laughs with Ari, Majora, Hikagi, Numdin and Luz.

She learns from Link and Kasui about the situation the rest of the Zoras tribes are going through. After talking with her father she and her aunt are put in charge of bringing as many Zora tribes as possible to Hyrule, and gave them shelter in the Domain. Even though their efforts are supported by all of Hyrule's races and neighbor nations, only a few tribes remain alive and a large number of survivors from the exterminated tribes.
She feels directly responsible of her people, of all the Zoras in Hyrule even if they weren't born in Hyrule, so she won't doubt of using her most powerful spells on whoever dares to hurt them.

Even though she's a very strong person, most of that strength comes from Kasui and her friends. When she's alone she can break down in tears due to the grief she feels for her race and the stress she put over her shoulders.
Since very young she's always been present in diplomatic meetings so she has little experience dealing with people her age or younger, that's why she takes the best of the time she can spend with her friends.
What's more, she still in charge of the duty as watcher of the whale god Jabu-Jabu, who she often consults during her times of need and despair.

She's madly in love with Kasui, and he's always ready to do whatever she wishes to. And she enjoys taking advantage of that.
