Description At the airshow was also this F/A-18F Super Hornet, the 2 seater of the Super Hornet family making the F/A-18E Super Hornet the single seater of the family, it too started off as a product of McDonnell Douglas until the merge with Boeing and now is a product of Boeing Defense, Space and Security.

It is a Carrier-Based Multirole Fighter and this 1 belongs to the US Navy, it is powered by 2 General Electric F414-GE-400 afterburning turbofans, can climb to an altitude of 50,000+ft and can reach a maximum speed of 1,190mph.

Its main weapon is a nose mounted 20mm M61 Vulcan Gatling Cannon with 578 rounds.

There is also provision for up to 11 external hardpoints, 2 wingtip (1 per wingtip), 6 under wing (3 per wing) and 3 under the central fuselage.

The front view gives us a look at the wings each holding a Sidewinder, an AMRAAM and a JDAM, the rectangular engine intakes, twin V tails, front HUD and the specially strengthened landing gear.

Note the small beam on the forward gear which latches onto a catapult for Carrier launch.
