very cool abstract art. also kudos for successfully using gimp. i've tried it a few times but didn't get on with it's interface, in a similar way to a lot of artists struggle with blender's interface, which is my main program.

Yeah Thanks! I've tried blender, and never got anywhere, but I've gotten pretty good with gimp, and can't live without it now. I've been using it for a long time, but still keep learning new things. I keep planing on getting back to blender one day.

Oh my - I am not exaggerating when I say that my jaw dropped when I saw this. Absolutely stunning! I love abstract expressionist and the more colorful and layered the better. This is so vibrant - I just want to fall into it. I hope I can be this good someday.

WOW... you know it's when seeing art this good that, instead of just making it, I want to start collecting art myself

It's not. I use gimp to make all my art. It has a fractal filter I've played around with, but don't use much. I think they're pretty cool tho!! Yours are really great. Are fractal programs free? I don't know much about it. lol

Looks very un-digital to the unsuspecting viewer.

Yeah Thanks. I draw a lot of inspiration from traditional abstracts, and often try to imitate the look and feel of traditional art, but I think this piece would be difficult to recreate by traditional artists really.

I'm a big James Bond fan and do my own comic strip called OO Dan. Not really here on DA, but on my facebook page, but I post some goofy youtube cartoons I make in my journal sometimes. You can see one here if you like. [link]

I'm a digital artist, and I've developed my own abstract techniques though trial, and error. I make my art with gimp. It would be much easier to show you how if you were here, but it's pretty complicated, so it's difficult to explain my process. It all started with my obsession with trying to imitate famous abstract painters. Without paint of course. Now I've move beyond that, and have started to express my own abstract styles. I'm glad you like it.

Thank's Debjani! I'm really glad you like it enough to feature. It's one of my favorite things to make something where light both comes though from behind, and is reflected off the surface. The colors in this one are some of my favorites.
