Description
This is the second version of Snake-Bite!The original concept

was made by We adjustet the design for the middle part, so the Crystal would be more visible, but without making it look fragile, so I made it part open, part closed with a metal shroud for stability.
Again the great conceptart from CrispyWire helped a lot with this part! I refined the Emittershroud and various parts, AND most importantly I added A RED ACTIVATION BUTTON!!! That's the reason the blade wasn't ignited in the earlier versions, because: no button, no activation XD
The crystal itself is called "Mantle of the Force". I remembered this crystal from playing Knights of the old Republic, and found it very interesting and special.
I thought, for a saber this cool, you need a equally cool crystal wich can produce a very awesome blade color.
I worked this one out with CrispyWire and it is AWESOME working with his concepts! I really hope this isn't the last opportunity of working with him!
Hopefully it turned out the way he imagined it. Thx again buddy^^
Hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoy working on it!
PS: I know, it's not perfect... It's a WIP^^ And please stop telling me that it doesn't look right like: "You know the blade should look different, for more realism"
or: "That's not right, a lightsaber should be constructed like this..."
and my favourite: "Let me show you a blueprint how it should look like!!!" and then sends me a google link.
I don't want realism. It's a goddamn Lightsaber^^ I know how a Lightsaber "should" be constructed, trust me... i really do. I have seen blueprints, plans and pics of disassembled sabers en masse... I am quite able to google my research material on my own... thank you^^

I'm not familiar with C4D, but in Studi Max (by autodesk) there is a light called the 'omni light' which produces a globe of light, when the light is rendered 'solid' like the blade. I don't have any pictures up, but I have gotten some really cool blade base effects useing an omni light stacked with various FX.
Just a thought, other than that, nice, clean modeling.
Good work

I mean, this one has a much more elegant design. Especially when we think about all the people working on the concepts at lucasarts

Really cool. I love the idea of being able to see the colored crystal glowing in the hilt, and the end opposite the blade looks nearly as dangerous!

I don't know which program you made it in but if it's exportable as a 3D object do you consider maybe making it available or selling it? Would work great in some star wars related scene

sorry, but this is already a collaborative effort with crispywire, who made the original design. I just put it in the third dimension with C4D.
As for the selling itself, I don't wanna sell my babies yet^^
But if you have a request, a design you would like a lightsaber based upon, I'll happily work with you^^

Well I don't have specific designs, but if you check my gallery I do a lot of 3D scenes and I'm always on the lookout for great looking sci-fi weapons. Yours look very nice.
