I saw this piece as a tiny thumbnail in a journal somewhere and it immediately caught my eye. This photo seems to be all about contrast...contrast between the warm light and the deep shadows, contrast between the pure beauty of the model and the danger of the knife. Contrast between pure white and a rich red, almost like the blood which the knife might shed.
And in all that she smiles....it really is a wonderful capture. I love how she seems so calm, relaxed and yet almost seductive...Even despite the dagger I am sure no one would be able to withstand her.
There is really nothing to complain about the photo. The composition is good, colours and values are spot on. Alone the size of the photo here on deviantArt could be a little bigger, so that we can fully appreciate it. Not too much, perhaps 800 pixels in height.

Beautiful lighting and well chosen viewpoint to capture the pose and beauty. I have to agree with victorynotvengeance, the knife is too hidden (did´nt even notice it at first). putting it into more right or leaving it where it is - and using a small spotlight to illuminate it a bit would help for sure. Great photo!

On the photographic side: The shirt seems to be overexposed. You should place a light closer to her face (away from the shirt). The light could be a bit softer as well. But nice work anyway.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I do like her face that way, though I don't like the overexposed shirt. I only use one lamp of 500W and no reflector usually, so I guess I should just have taken the lamp a bit farther behind, or even use a bit quicker speed!

I actually really like this not only for the lighting but for your sisters facial features. She seems genuinely happy and that is very rare in model portraits anymore. As for a critique on a negative aspect I actually can't give one, because I think this photography is quite amazing (great compliment coming from me, as I think most photographs suck).
