Well guys I finsihed Merlin, I actually love how this one came out and I really think I am gonna stick to realism for now its soo fun

well I use GIMP 2.0, which is really crap compared to other programmes XD I start out with the rough sketch which I turn into a simple lineart, once I've done that I paint the skin first, starting with a base colour/s then build up, I always go from the eyes as they are important, I paint all on the same layer and have the ref pic in a tab next to the picture I am painting so I can check when ever I need to XD

Oh don't worry I hvn't forgotten, I just haven't had the time or means to go and get a new sketch pad from my local art store XD and GIMP really is easy once you have figured out how to the use brushes and layers XD

Realism indeed works very well for you!
As for feedback: His skin looks a bit too pale. Adding some orangy ,brownish, pinkish tints should do the trick

Hmm I was a bit dubious on the skin but when I matched it up next to my ref it looked okay and honestly I was soo tired and was just like 'mehh, he looks okay lets just leave it' I am soo bad with being lazy XD And thankyou XD

ooah, very nice. I've tried to do realism... didn't work out to well. Do you have any tips for anyone like me on the best way to paint realism digitally? Wah, and you should totally do the current doctor next~! Yay Matt Smith~!

Ahhh oh my gosh, MATT SMITH it issssss!!! XD and hmmm tips, well all I can say is warm up before by just painting little snippits of a picture so you get the feel of it, then always have your ref next to the painting but in a diffrent tab so if you can't get the colour right by using the colout wheel you can just pick a block colour of there and alter it for your needs, basically you really really need to keep the part you are colouring/shading the same on the ref, so if you were zooming in to work detailed, do the same on the ref. I bet that doesn't even help in the slightest XD
