Description
Edit: Increased contrast and changed watermark.I'm super super super happy that I finally got my new lens! And if you're wondering, I love it love it love it!
Oil and water. A beautiful combination. It took me about 5 minutes to make the set-up, which comprises of a glass plate held horizontally by 4 Coca Cola cans, and a quarter-filled glass bowl (placed on the glass plate) of water and a fine layer of yummy olive oil. Underneath the glass I placed small cut pieces of colorful paper for a nice background.
I hope you like it! I know it's not the best oil and water out there but I'm still in disbelief that I can take pictures like that!

Just seen your forum post but it was closed.
Well the colour looks great but a bit low key for my taste. To me it just looks like digital art and nothing at all like a photograph of anything and if it was not for your description no one would think it was a photograph, in fact this would be very easy to do in PS.
I am not saying it is bad work and it is a credit to you that you took the time to set it up as you did but there are just no elements in the shot that recognize it as a photograph of anything.
Why put your logo on it like that . it does NOTHING for the shot but spoils it , it will not in any way stop some one from steeling it or using it and it would only take some one 5 seconds to remove it.
Photographs never traditionally had signatures on them as paintings and drawings did , this is something that has happened with the digital revolution but you will find that if you enter any sort pf photography competition the first photos to get knocked out will be the one that have text on them no matter how good the rest of the shot.

Thanks for taking the time to write this.
I think that to me it's a challenge I took to create something that wouldn't look like a photograph.
Actually I can only agree with you with regards to the watermark. I know it can be easily removed, but I also think that if someone is looking to steel artworks they'd look for ones with no text. It's easier. So what do you suggest I do?
I also really like the way the color turned out, but the picture's a little messy in my opinion. But I really appreciate your opinion about it.

Its all good but I think it is harder to make a photograph that really looks like a photograph, anyone can do abstract art but not every one can take a nice photo.
However it is your art so you should do want you want and don't mind comments from an oldie like me
As for the water mark I would suggest you do not use one, if you feel you must have your name on there then put it down the corner out of the way so it does not ruin the shot, people want to view your work and not your name. At least yours is only small as there are some here that are so large all you see is there name , I just see it as a pointless and ridiculous thing to do given that 99% of them images no one would ever want to steel any way.
Dont make it easy for anyone to steal an images like you have done with this one , if I wanted to steal it all I have to do is pay 2c and download a 9MB file and it is mine and there would be nothing much you could do to stop me from doing whatever I wanted with it, oh yes your watermark, like I said 5 seconds it is gone.
Hard to believe that at most 0.001% of the stuff on DA would be of any interest to an art thief, most people would just like to think that there work could get stolen but that is just an ego thing , the biggest problem for photographers is plagiarism and not theft.

How do you like it? I have the D200 but just feel the need for change, I miss the CMOS sensor that my Canon had...BUT the newer Nikon's have it ( like your's)

It's alright. I like the variety of options and many editing tools. It's my only DSLR so I don't now. But I've always liked Canon more, I feel that their quality is higher.
As for the CMOS, I have no idea what it is!

This is beautiful. I love the change in colours and how they are reflected in the bubbles. Using oil and water in photos can be quite tricky to get right but you've got it spot-on. The only criticism I would have is in regard to the brownish-yellow bubble in the middle of the bottom, as it draws attention away from the bright colours but apart from that the photo is perfect.
Love it
