Description Hello, all!  I know I haven't been very active as of late.  I recently upgraded my work station and it's taken some getting use to.  I'm just starting to get used to it (my monitor is much higher up than it was before, plus I'm working with a new monitor).  I've been doing a lot of 2-D work.  It's nice to get back into something I haven't done in a long time!  I also invested in a drawing tablet with a screen.  I love it!  If only Flame Painter loved it.

I'm not sure exactly when I started working on this, but it was at least a month ago and I was trying out different methods of lighting, playing around with the model's textures, and camera angles.  It wasn't until last night that I started to take it seriously and came up with a story for the scene.  Considering the character is from a story filled with magic, it only made sense that there are some crazy magical events that take place.  Like spellstorms. I liked the idea of storms made of magic, that can cause anything to happen.  And it's both beautiful and chaotic.

In the scene, my character, Kina, watches the storm pass through, along with her little pal (the butterfly) Toph.  Toph can pretty much turn himself into whatever small creature he wants.  I thought a butterfly form would really fit well with the scene.

I mostly used Flame Painter and Pixeluvo in post, as Photoshop somehow destroyed the actual image. The text on the pages were on a separate layer and whenever I used a gaussian blur or did anything to the layer (like merge it with another), the image was suddenly filled with artifacts and chunks of the image missing. The original PSD was ruined due to accidentally saving it while this was occurring. Luckily, I still had my Flame Painter copy so it wasn't a total loss.

I made the loose pages in Blender and imported them into Daz. The actual render looked really nice and I almost used it as the final image (instead of doing post work), but decided I didn't want an overcast, stormy atmosphere. I figured a spellstorm could be just the opposite!

Software used: Daz Studio 4.14 Pro, Flame Painter 4, Pixeluvo, Blender
GPU: RTX 2060
Logitech G600 Mouse, Huion Kamvas 13
