**What’s up everyone. Been laying low and haven’t posted in a while. Honestly I’ve been in a real mood funk lately but it hasn’t stop me from drawing which is a good thing. Because of insomnia once again I’m stupidly posting super late (its past 2am where I am...) knowing damn well I need to get up early for work. Any grammar and art errors will be fixed later on in the day.**
Flashback / Backstory side character
In the profile backstory for King Zephyrus it is briefly mention that he is a widower. No portraits of the late Queen is shown and she isn’t given an actual name. So this is my original rendition of the Queen of the Kingdom of Zephyrus.
Queen Silvia (née Hathaway) shares a somewhat similar history like real life Duchesses Kate Middleton and Megan Markle. That she was a regular commoner of the working class and not from noble aristocrat upper-class.
Silvia was originally a battlefield medic treating injured citizens, knights and soldiers. As a young man King Zephyrus often aided and fought alongside his solders. One particular battle left him severely injured, on the brink of death and he ended up in a field hospital that Silvia worked at. Zephyrus faced a long difficult recovery and it was during this time, he and Silvia bonded and became friends. After he fully recovered they officially began a courtship then eventually married.
Overall Design:
*I had to retroactively (am I using the right term here?) create Silvia’s design by basing her off of her daughter Princess Sherry. In the game Sherry is portrayed to be much taller than her father King Zephyrus. So I figure she got her height from Silvia. Other than the indigo blue eyes, Sherry gets most of her looks from her mother. After picking Silvia’s pinkish mauve eye color, I got the idea to perhaps I should make her partially albino. I say partially because she still has hair color. So this explains her pale fur color and pink nose. What does this add to the story? Absolutely nothing! Lol! This is strictly a design choice.
*Silvia’s medic uniform is based off the old military field nurse uniforms from the past.
*The crown that’s she wearing for the wedding is inspired by Art Nouveau designs (My absolutely favorite art period)
*In this previous upload: fav.me/dceze19 I had mention that Princess Sherry would sneak outside the castle going into town to visit and shop at the market places. Well this habit was originally started by her mother! Since Silvia was once a commoner she still missed some of her old civilian life outside the castle. Zephyrus was very understanding and would allow her the freedom to leave (while still accompanied with security of course!) So it wasn’t too much of a secret of what she was doing. As long as she brought back a bunch of tasty snacks he was happy! In this scene Silvia and Sherry (who is about 5 here) are sitting in the park enjoying some yummy muffins.
So this is where I’m having a hard time. How did Silvia die? I imagine that she passes when Sherry was still a young girl around the age of 8. Scenario 1: A casualty of war caught up in one of the many attacks on the castle and dying from her wounds. Scenario 2: unexpectedly succumbing to an illness. I could have pull an extreme left turn and kept her alive like I did for Sir Sanjuro fav.me/dc8hslf . However I think it’s for the best that I stay somewhat true the original story by keeping Zephyrus a widower.

Very interesting concept and story choice you went with Silvia.
Yeah, it's always hard to design characters that are never actively shown (either because they're not important to the story, because they went missing or because they're dead), but the choice of colors and the clothing she's wearing give out the vibe of a strong woman with a kind, merciful heart. Since Sherry looks nothing like her father you can bet that she's coming after her mother... Sherry, consider yourself lucky.
I'm always impressed when you're uploading more Character Studies, especially in terms of Rocket Knight.
I don't want to sound mean, but so far you're doing the most impressive stuff. You care a lot about the stories of the characters and take your sweet time to design the characters appropiate to the settings of the games, or the stories you're having in your mind.
Using your own style for Rocket Knight related works just adds to more interesting results in terms of character presentation and general fanart.

My apologies for the late reply. Been dealing with a lot of personal issues. Basically ”Life Block” or “Life keeps throwing s--t at me in general”. I had even mentioned in the description of this deviation that I haven’t been in the greatest mood as of late. Sometimes I have to step away for a while. And yeah, It’s a major reason why I take my dear sweet time posting anything around here lol. Sadly it even makes simply replying messages a task. I really appreciate your comments and feedback and I want to make sure you know that. I’m glad to know that I’m going in the right direction with my art and that people enjoy it
I got plenty of RKA and personal art-related stuff backlogged to work on but it’s going to take forever unless I get over this burn out I’m currently stuck in. -_-; I do have one more RKA commission I worked on to post up later. I think you’ll get a kick out of it!

I like how certain events, one that leads to the other, are presented in those smaller bubbles.
Her designs really does make sense.
And now I notice the paperbag has written Sinha Bakery on it, which was the bakery the parents of your OC were having or something like that? It's a nice nod.
Her wedding dress looks like the dress you gave Flora, just in a different color or maybe it's just me.

Silvia's dress is somewhat similar to Queen Flora's one-shoulder dress

And yes that paper bag is indeed from Raina's parents' bakery
