Well, let it be on dA, too (posted on my Instagram before).

Tribute to a videogame 7 years older than me. I like all the incarnations of Link, but this very first one, from 1986 NES/Famicom LoZ, is certainly my favourite. He looks so boyish, touchingly ridiculous, resolute and innocent at the same time.

He knows that it's dangerous to go alone like no one else, yet he goes, because he must, because it's right. Hope he will encourage me to move forward even in despair.

The title is inspired by this stunning fanfiction.

He was the first.

He was the last.

The first Link in LoZ game series, and the last in the Downfall timeline.

Bunch of Link official designs used and unused for creating this. Guess which ones I like the most. These watercolour arts from Hyrule Historia, and their full-coloured versions used in BS Zelda, are just so... plain but sprightful? If you know who is the artist, please tell me! I tried to reach something in-between this and my usual style.

Polymer clay, molded plastic, tempera + acrylic paint. 12,5 cm (about 5 inches) tall.
